Band Resizing: We do not supply or order extra links. Please bring your extra links if the band must be lengthened. “L” shaped pins and high-end watches must be handled by the watchmaker.

For best results, the owner should be present so the watch can be fitted directly to the wrist. If additional adjustments are needed later, extra charges will apply.

Watch Battery Replacements: $20–$75 + tax, depending on watch type and complexity. Some battery changes may take 1–2 weeks. Worn or stretched back gaskets are replaced at an additional $3–$10 + tax.

Watch Band Replacements: We offer leather and silicone bands only. We can also install bands supplied by the customer. Bands start at $9.95.

Case / Band Cleaning: Only available on watches we are already servicing or repairing internally.

Watches We Do Not Work On

We do not work on fake or faux reproduction watches, smart watches, digital watches, Eco Drive watches, solar watches, or any capacitor-powered (rechargeable battery) watches.

Other Important Watch Information

Please review the additional details below about limits, parts, deposits, batteries, pick-up policies, and watchmaker availability.

Deposits, Storage & Service Limits

All watch repairs require a 50% deposit before any repairs will be completed.

Items left over 60 days will incur storage fees.

We do not offer expedited services.

We do not install customer-supplied batteries.

Limit 5 total watches per visit, per customer. This applies to watches needing batteries as well as those needing estimates.

We do not offer “part & piece work.” If your timepiece is due for service, that service will be included in the estimate.

Parts, Accessories & Chronograph Notes

Parts on some watches are limited and may be on backorder, which can extend the estimated repair time.

Loose items such as fobs, pictures, manuals, tags, paperwork, boxes, and similar accessories should be left at home.

Some chronograph watches may need to be reset after the battery drains or is replaced. Please refer to your original instructions first. If the watchmaker must manually reset the chronograph hands, there is a $100 minimum charge. Some chronographs can be adjusted by the crown.

Aftermarket parts may be used for backordered items, discontinued parts, or parts we do not have direct access to.

Watchmaker Availability & While-You-Wait Option

The watchmaker is usually here Tuesday through Friday after 2:00 PM. Please call before arriving to make sure he is in.

Watch band adjustments and estimates “while you wait” are available for a $200 nonrefundable fee only.

We do not take appointments. Service is first come, first served.

Battery Damage, Winders & Recheck Policy

We are not responsible for damage caused by leaking or corroded batteries in items left over 60 days.

If your watch is automatic and you do not wear it regularly, a watch winder is recommended to help keep it wound. These are available online or at local jewelry stores.

If we install a battery and the watch stops or loses time within a year, please bring it back so we can recheck the battery. If it is drained or dead, we do not refund the battery cost, and the watch may need a new movement.

Receipts are required for a refund.

Care, Pick Up & Estimate Fee Notes

Please do not continuously open and close the backs of repaired mechanical or automatic watches, as this allows dirt and debris into the movement.

The Clock Shop of Richmond does not refund costs associated with installed parts.

Each ready item must be picked up within 60 days of our call. Items left over 60 days will incur a $35 per month storage fee.

Estimate fees are nonrefundable. We do not offer free estimates on watches that do not run with a new battery. If your watch only needs a battery or if you approve needed repairs, the estimate fee will be credited on initial drop-offs only.

If a watch brought in is determined by the watchmaker to be faux or reproduction, you will be called for pickup and no repairs or estimate will be completed. The estimate fee will not be refunded.

Conduct & Refund Policy

The Clock Shop of Richmond will not tolerate abusive language or behavior.

No refunds will be given on deposits or estimate fees, and we reserve the right to refuse service at any time.
