  1. If your clock requires more than an oiling (oil is due every 2-3 years, cleaning every 5-10 years & eventually the movement will wear & must be restored/replaced), the clockmaker will have to bring the clock mechanism, weights, pendulum, hands, etc. into the shop for repairs and will advise you along with a price, what repairs are needed and approximate repair time.  We will not oil a movement that is in need of other repairs.

  1. We may require a down payment.  The clockmaker will advise you on site.  All subcontract & 3rd party work must be paid in advance. We do not offer 3rd party billing.

Scheduling/Important Information:

If your clock cabinet (including broken feet) is in need of repairs, please do so before scheduling a Service Call. The cabinet houses the movement of the clock and must be stable. Some clock movements can weigh upwards of 50 pounds and weights can be around 75 pounds!

ALL MAJOR CASE REPAIRS SHOULD BE DONE PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A SERVICE CALL AND BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WILL BEGIN. REPAIRS TO CASES CAN ALTER HOW THEY FIT AND MAY REQUIRE SOME ADJUSTMENTS. If an additional service call is required, there will be a $275 charge.

Once we have received your agreement or signed policies sheet, we will contact you within 3-4 weeks.

We will ask you the following:

Who is the manufacturer of the clock(s)?

  • Do you wind the clock with a crank/key or pull chains?
  • Is the clock a tubular bell? There would be 4-9 brass or nickel tubes hanging behind the weights and pendulum.
  • Any prior service/maintenance history?
  • What is the reason for our visit? What issues/problems, if any are you having? Due for maintenance?

Service calls are scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only.

  • We are usually booked out for several months and do not offer expedited services.
  • Service calls can take 30 minutes to an hour. Tubular bell and more complex clocks could take longer.
  • You will be given a 2-3 hour window for the Clockmaker to arrive.
  • We will call you the morning of your scheduled appointment to confirm.
  • We do not offer Grandfather clock moves/relocations but will pack/prepare them for a move. You will be required to supply all packing materials (moving blankets/boxes) as all loose parts (weights, pendulums, tubes, glass panels, finials, etc.) will be removed for safe transport.
  • If you have loose numbers/parts on your dial, it will have to come into our shop to be repaired.
  • Please remember we are only able to oil clock movements, in-home. All other repairs would come into the shop. The Clockmaker will advise you onsite.
  • Floor standing clocks that are moved within a year of us repairing/servicing are not covered by any warranty. There will be a $275 minimal fee to re-level and set up these clocks.

  • As times change we may need to update our In-Home/Office Polices. All updates will be posted here.

Inclement Weather:

If the forecast is calling for several inches of snow/ice on the day of your scheduled appointment and you do not receive a confirmation phone call by 1030am, we have most likely closed. We apologize for any inconvenience and will contact you to reschedule once we are back in the office. The safety of our staff and care of your timepieces are very important to us.
